Success Story: Deepika Gudivada

Deepika joined Wells Fargo in 2025 after successfully completing the Wells Fargo Glide – Relaunch USA returnship. She joined as a Financial Controls Analyst and has been loving her time back after over 7 years out of the paid workforce. Here is what she has to say about her experience:

What type of work did you do before stepping away from the workforce, and how long were you out? I previously worked as a Senior Executive in Finance & Accounts for a startup where I managed Record to Report (R2R) processes, coordinated with multiple teams, led a team of analysts, and reported directly to the CFO.

What prompted your return to work? I never intended to take a break, but relocation and family responsibilities required me to step away. Ultimately, timing and circumstance led to my career pause, and those same forces aligned to guide me back to the workforce when the moment was right.

Did you take any classes in preparation for your return to work? Returning to work was not as fast as I thought it would be. I spent about two years searching for opportunities before joining Wells Fargo through the Glide – Relaunch USA program. During that time, I focused on preparing myself by pursuing Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) coursework to stay current, strengthen my skills, and remain competitive in the job market.

What was your experience of returning to work at Wells Fargo? My return to the workforce through the Wells Fargo Glide – Relaunch USA program was an immensely fortunate and deliberate path. The program offered a competitive, structured environment that ensured my skills were fully up to date. More than just a job, I was blessed to join a company where employees genuinely care for one another.

The support I received was indispensable: Devlyn Lorenzen (Glide Program Manager), Mavis Robinson (my senior manager), Tyler McGary (my manager), Megan Johnson (my lead), Kritika (my team buddy) and my entire team embraced me like family, offering unwavering support—even through my health challenges.

Crucially, the connections I made with my fellow Gliders each and everyone have been profoundly meaningful. They are truly the best people with whom I crossed paths, transforming them from colleagues to immediate, reliable family members and sources of support. I was blessed to meet them, gaining inspiration and learning valuable lessons from them every single day. This experience was not just a relaunch of my career, but an incredible gift of a new professional family.

Do you have any advice for future returners? I have a few pieces of advice: Never give up and always believe in yourself. Patience and consistency are truly the keys to success. Remember that age and career breaks are just numbers and time is temporary. It took me 7.5 years to return to the workforce, even though I stayed curious and continuously worked to keep my skills current. If I could do it, you can too. Believe in yourself, stay committed, and you will get there.

What would you say to someone who is hesitant to apply for a returnship? A returnship is a great opportunity for anyone with a career break. Embrace every opportunity to return to work, because success is the sum of many attempts. A well-designed program like Glide – Relaunch USA will boost your confidence, help you update your skills, and prepare you to face anything. In simple terms, it equips an ordinary person to be ready for any challenge at any time.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, status as a protected veteran, or any other legally protected characteristic.
